Cohort Tuesday, May 27
8pm at Tilt

This evening we will have a conversation with Dan Ra's friend, Lindsay Jones, a professor at Emory Law and an attorney that fiercely advocates on behalf the disenfranchised whose homes are destroyed. High rises and condos for the rich are built in its place. He's at the forefront of this dilemma here in Atlanta and has even been featured on NPR. Lindsay is also an elder at Oakhurst Presbyterian.

To set up the discussion, read this short essay, The Gentrification of Judah by Bob Lupton. Bob is a long time urban activist, founder of FCS Urban ministries. In this article Bob reflects on the parallels of the gentry who returned from Babylon to Judah and us middle class folks who have returned to Atlanta's intown neighborhoods after generations of flight.

It should be a great discussion and Lindsay will be a terrific dialog partner for us on this issue. Sorry to get this post out so last minute, hope you can join us.

I was there a couple of months ago with my girlfriend, and I really want to come back. I had a really stressful day, and we did not want to sit in traffic. Selfish.... I know.. :) Sorry. I hope to make it next month!

About Us

You're a part of a bigger conversation, a bigger story of God's creation unfolding and realizing it's Creator's dreams in the clue of Jesus. Gather monthly to re-imagine how we can best participate locally in this conversation, story, dreams. This is an Emergent Cohort meeting to flesh out four commitments: to God in the way of Jesus, to the Church in all its Forms, to God's World, and to One Another. This is a theological conversation for any practitioners in the way of Jesus.
